At the beginning of the year, the price of one US dollar was 2.67GEL. In last four months GEL has depreciated by 6 tetri and today the exchange rate between dollar and lari equals to 2.73GEL.
In the first quarter of 2019, the nominal exchange rate of GEL increased by 0.3% against US dollar and 0.7% against euro.
According to NBG, GEL has significantly depreciated against the Russian Ruble and Turkish Lira,
Accordingly – 0.4% and 2.2%. In the same period, the nominal effective exchange rate of GEL has depreciated by 0.6% quarterly, and by 4.6% yearly. In the first quarter of 2019, the real effective exchange rate strengthened by 0.8%, and 1.4% yearly.
