Electricity usage is expected to increase by 10.9 % in 2019. According to the projected electricity capacity balance for 2019 (approved by the Ministry of Economy), the increased demand is planned to be met by imports (+88.3% y/y) and hydrogenation (+3.3% y/y). Based on the projected balance, the main source of hydrogenation growth will be from the plants in operation in 2018 and plants that will be in operation in 2019 (4 power plants with 229 GW/H annual generation). According to information from G&T, the increase in the consumption of electricity is due to direct consumers (+41.7% y/y) and to Energo-Pro Georgia’s subscribers (+10.5% y/y).
