It is the message that authenticates the messenger, not the other way round. \u201cConcerto for Peace\u201d is a compelling musical call for global peace and harmony, a veritable message that is as timely as it is essential.<\/p>\n

Its composer, Omar Harfouch, nevertheless brings substantial credibility and authority to the piece through his own remarkable life. The Concerto is due to be performed in the Th\u00e9\u00e2tre des Champs-\u00c9lys\u00e9es in Paris on September 18, and again at the United Nations in Geneva two days later. Harfouch himself will play the piano at both events, something which would have seemed impossible given his early childhood in war-torn Lebanon.<\/p>\n

A Journey from Conflict to Concert Halls<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Harfouch’s life story is as compelling as his music. Born in Tripoli, Lebanon, in 1969, the chaos of Lebanon\u2019s civil war marked Harfouch’s early years. He found solace in music, choosing to teach himself to play the piano as a refuge during trying times. From that refuge, he had things to say using the language of music.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is magic to be found in every song; in every note, rather,\u201d shares Harfouch. \u201cMusic has been a significant part of who I am as a person, and now, I want to pay it forward by using it as an instrument of peace.\u201d<\/p>\n

His journey to Europe’s grand stages has been one of resilience and resolve. Self-taught at first, Harfouch refined his skills at prestigious institutions like the Moscow Conservatory and the Glinka Conservatory in Dnipro, Ukraine. He has lived in France, what he calls his adopted country, for over thirty years. A proud French citizen, he is deeply appreciative that, in his own words, \u201cFrance has also adopted me\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cConcerto for Peace:\u201d A Musical Manifesto <\/strong><\/h5>\n

Seeking to find new ways to raise awareness and promote peace, Harfouch\u2019s \u201cConcerto for Peace\u201d is an empowering and inspiring statement. This 17-minute piece for piano and philharmonic orchestra is a collaboration with his childhood friend and fellow composer, Houtaf Khoury. The work seeks to create an immersive experience of tranquility and unity, reflecting Harfouch\u2019s vision of a world united through music.<\/p>\n

Conductor Mathieu Bonnin will direct the B\u00e9ziers M\u00e9diterran\u00e9e Symphony Orchestra to perform the piece. Their collaboration with Harfouch is fuelled by a deep artistic synergy that has the realistic potential to bring out the full emotional depth of Harfouch\u2019s composition.<\/p>\n

Harfouch\u2019s thought-provoking reflections on his personal journey and his commitment to peace emphasise the transformative power of music. He calls on global leaders and audiences alike to embrace the messages of harmony and cooperation embedded in his work.<\/p>\n

In addition to the concerto, Harfouch\u2019s repertoire includes other significant compositions such as \u201cLa Fantaisie Orientale,\u201d which incorporates traditional oriental instruments, and \u201cSave One Life, You Save Humanity,\u201d inspired by the universal messages of peace in religious texts. These pieces further showcase his dedication to using music as a vehicle for positive change.<\/p>\n

Harfouch\u2019s journey from a war-torn childhood to the lifestyle of a celebrated composer and activist is a stirring story of success. His \u201cConcerto for Peace\u201d and other works represent his artistic achievements and his commitment to fostering global solidarity.<\/p>\n
