Chris Fernandez, chief executive officer of Affordable American Insurance, has been named a Marquis Who\u2019s Who honoree in recognition of his long-standing contributions to the insurance industry. The selection committee considers factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility and prominence in a field during the selection process.<\/p>\n

With more than 15 years of experience at Affordable American Insurance, technological innovation, national growth and a commitment to the human side of insurance have defined Mr. Fernandez\u2019s career.<\/p>\n

Grounded in legacy, driven by vision<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mr. Fernandez began his career in 2005 as a high school student assisting with his family\u2019s business. By 2006, he formally joined the company as an information technology support technician and later established the organization\u2019s information technology (IT) department. In 2016, Mr. Fernandez led a pivotal transition to a new agency management system. This project required training more than 200 staff and agents and carried significant financial risk for the company. The implementation of the EZLynx platform ultimately proved highly successful, driving increased revenue and operational efficiency. Following this achievement, Mr. Fernandez shifted his focus toward national expansion. He directed the scaling of Affordable American Insurance from operations in just three states to a presence in more than 27.<\/p>\n

In August 2022, Mr. Fernandez acquired majority ownership of the company from his parents. He was appointed chief executive officer in January 2023. Since assuming executive leadership, Mr. Fernandez spearheaded the acquisition of one of Arkansas\u2019s largest personal lines agencies, and he has guided the company\u2019s shift from a lifestyle-based business to a professionally managed enterprise. His strategic goals include growing annual premiums to $1 billion and increasing locations to 300 across the United States.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve always believed that leadership is about making the right decisions, especially when they\u2019re hard,\u201d Mr. Fernandez said. \u201cYou can\u2019t let pride get in the way of doing what\u2019s best for the people around you.\u201d<\/p>\n

A Values-Based Approach To Growth<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mr. Fernandez attributes his professional success to perseverance, the unwavering support of his wife and kids, the example of his father and the insights gained through leadership groups such as Vistage and Legatus. He has emphasized the importance of humility, emotional intelligence and building systems that serve both clients and agents.<\/p>\n

In his current role, Mr. Fernandez helps agents become stronger business owners by sharing the best practices in entrepreneurship and strategic management.<\/p>\n

Mr. Fernandez\u2019s personal experiences in the insurance sector continue to shape his leadership philosophy, providing a constant reminder of the vital responsibility insurance professionals carry in times of crisis. He has witnessed firsthand how well-structured policy and responsive support can make a meaningful difference in the lives of families and business owners facing unexpected challenges. These moments have reinforced his commitment to building systems that not only enhance operational efficiency but also uphold the human impact at the heart of the insurance profession. For Mr. Fernandez, leadership means creating a culture where service, integrity, and long-term client relationships are prioritized above all else.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe insurance industry isn\u2019t glamorous. You meet people when they\u2019ve hit rock bottom,\u201d Mr. Fernandez said. \u201cThat\u2019s why integrity matters. That\u2019s why doing the right thing matters, especially when no one\u2019s watching.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mr. Fernandez earned a bachelor\u2019s degree in information technology from the University of Phoenix and holds certifications in strategic leadership from Stanford University and advanced business analytics. The Denver Business Journal named him to its 40 Under 40 list in 2025.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy goal is to grow people,\u201d Mr. Fernandez said. \u201cI want to help agents become better business owners, better leaders and, ultimately, better humans.\u201d<\/p>\n
