For the tens of millions of people using those platforms, one of the simplest ways to spend crypto is through a Visa card.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019re partnering with 50 of the leading crypto platforms on card programs that make it easy to convert and spend digital currency at 70 million merchants worldwide. With more than $1 billion spent on crypto-linked Visa cards in the first half of 2021, it\u2019s clear that the crypto community sees value in linking digital currencies to Visa\u2019s global network.<sup>1<\/sup><\/p>\n<p>What\u2019s more, these programs don\u2019t require coffee shops, dry cleaners, or grocery stores to directly accept cryptocurrencies at the checkout. It\u2019s the magic of \u201ctap and go\u201d without the complexity of new acceptance points or cryptographic keys.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ve been busy at Visa, connecting the crypto economy to our \u2018network-of-networks,\u2019 a strategy designed to add value to all forms of money movement, whether on the\u00a0Visa\u00a0network, or beyond.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s a look at the trends we\u2019re seeing and the progress we\u2019ve made against our\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/usa.visa.com\/content\/VISA\/usa\/englishlanguagemaster\/en_US\/home\/visa-everywhere\/blog\/bdp\/2020\/07\/21\/advancing-our-approach-1595302085970.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-linktype=\"internal\" aria-label=\"digital currency roadmap (open new window)\">digital currency roadmap<\/a>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>An expanding and evolving ecosystem<\/strong>: We\u2019ve been growing our relationships with today\u2019s leading digital currency platforms \u2014 FTX, Coinbase, Crypto.com, and CoinZoom, to name a few. The expertise and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/usa.visa.com\/content\/VISA\/usa\/englishlanguagemaster\/en_US\/home\/visa-everywhere\/blog\/bdp\/2021\/03\/26\/digital-currency-comes-1616782388876.html\" data-linktype=\"internal\">treasury infrastructure<\/a>\u00a0we\u2019ve built have helped establish Visa as the network of choice for crypto native companies. In fact, today one-quarter of the companies in Visa\u2019s Fintech Fast Track program are working to issue Visa cards linked to a crypto platform.<sup>2<\/sup><\/li>\n<li>These platforms are diversifying to meet an array of consumer needs, with new tools and features spanning interest accounts, lending and direct deposits. In this context, it\u2019s more important than ever for financial institutions of all stripes to establish a crypto strategy.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Rewards Reimagined:<\/strong>\u00a0Consumers want choice in all things, and loyalty and rewards are no different.\u00a0Programs like the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/blockfi.com\/credit-card-waitlist\/\" aria-label=\"BlockFi Rewards Visa Credit Card (external link)\">BlockFi Rewards Visa Credit Card<\/a>\u00a0let users spend fiat and earn crypto\u00a0rewards\u00a0in\u00a0a\u00a0similar way\u00a0other cards offer rewards programs for airline miles or hotel points.<sup>3<\/sup><em>\u00a0<\/em>By combining engagement in the crypto economy with the utility of a standard Visa card, these programs have potential to win long-term customer loyalty among both crypto enthusiasts and new adopters.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Stablecoins come to the fore: With more than\u00a0<\/strong>$100 billion worth of stablecoins in circulation and hundreds of billions exchanged each month on public blockchains, stablecoins are starting to live up to the promise of \u201cdigital fiat\u201d: the developer-friendly characteristics of cryptocurrency combined with the reliability of fiat-backed reserves.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We\u2019re seeing digital wallets and crypto platforms build payment products entirely with digital currency. For example, the fast-growing FTX platform, a new Fintech Fast Track member we\u2019re announcing today, is paying fifty per-cent of their remote employees in USDC. We\u2019re making our network more accessible to this growing ecosystem with capabilities like\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/usa.visa.com\/content\/VISA\/usa\/englishlanguagemaster\/en_US\/home\/visa-everywhere\/blog\/bdp\/2021\/03\/26\/digital-currency-comes-1616782388876.html\" data-linktype=\"internal\">USDC settlement<\/a>\u00a0and through our partnership with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.prnewswire.com\/news-releases\/circle-announces-partnership-with-visa-to-bring-the-benefits-of-stablecoins-to-businesses-worldwide-301185942.html\" aria-label=\"Circle (external link)\">Circle<\/a>.
