Georgia minimum living wage increases

According to the data of Statistics office of Georgia, in May average monthly living wage increased by 10.9 GEL compared to previous year and amounted to 168.4 GEL. Compared to the previous month, the minimum wage is increased by 50 Tetri.

GEOSTAT calculates the living wage in accordance with the goods basket. The basket reflects the daily ration necessary for a person’s existence and other expenditure on non-food goods and services are calculated by the statistical method.

The decrease / rise of the minimum wage depends on the prices of these products. 

Living wage for an active working age male is calculated as 190GEL, which has increased by 5 GEL compared to previous month.

The basket reflects the daily ration of 40 obligatory products necessary for a person’s existence and equals to 2300 kg calories.

Minimum grocery basket consists of 40 types of product, a total of 2300 kilogram calories.

Annual average growth of living wage increased by 20.7GEL

The living wage for an average household has also increased to 318.9GEL, which is 8.5GEL more compared to previous month.

GEOSTAT also published the data about the living wage for different family categories:

– Single – 168.40GEL

– Pregnant – 269.40 GEL
– Family that consists of 3 people – 303.10 GEL
– Family that consists of 4 people – 336.80GEL

– Family that consists of 5 people – 378.90GEL

whereas for those with 6 or more family members – 448GEL
